UNLV is close to hiring one of the most successful prep school recruiters in the country as an assistant coach.

Findlay Prep (Nev.) coach Todd Simon is on the verge of being added to the Runnin’ Rebels staff, sources told CBSSports.com.

ESPN.com first reported the news.

Simon was video coordinator at UNLV for two seasons under Lon Kruger before heading to Findlay. He has attracted high-level talent on a consistent basis to the prep school outside of Las Vegas, and the team went 35-1 this past season. Simon was an assistant under Michael Peck for five seasons at Findlay before taking over once Peck left for a job in the NBDL.

Findlay produced recent No. 1 overall draft pick Anthony Bennett, along with NBA players Tristan Thompson, Avery Bradley, Cory Joseph and DeAndre Liggins.
