Former Louisiana Tech quarterback Nick Isham, reported to be transferring to Arizona, is now officially listed on the Wildcats' online roster.

Isham will not be eligible this fall, per NCAA transfer rules, but will join the quarterback competition as a redshirt sophomore for the 2013 season. After starting the first seven games of 2011 as a true freshman, Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Dykes -- Arizona offensive coordinator from 2007-09 -- gave the job to then-junior Colby Cameron.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Isham completed 60.3 percent of his 257 passing attempts for 1,457 yards, with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also saw some action late in the season at wide receiver, catching two passes for 13 total yards.

His ability to run the ball should make the Thousand Oaks, Calif., native a good fit for Rich Rodriguez's system, but he there will be plenty of competition. Rodriguez added two quarterbacks in the 2012 recruiting class, as well as junior college transfers B.J. Denker and Alex Cappellini.

For now they are all competing behind senior Matt Scott, who Rodriguez said "can be the kind of leader we need" during the Pac-12 post-spring teleconference last month.
