It’s not often a kicker’s status is noteworthy, but the hero of USC’s thrilling Rose Bowl win over Penn State -- well, besides quarterback Sam Darnold -- is no longer with the team.

Kicker Matt Boermeester, who nailed a 46-yard field goal as time expired to give the Trojans a dramatic 52-49 win for the ages, is not on the spring practice roster.

It’s not clear whether Boermeester will return to the team at any point in the future. The kicker was suspended from the team early last month for an unspecified “code of conduct” issue.

“While this student code of conduct issue is being investigated, the student will not be representing the university as a member of its athletic team,” USC spokesman Tim Tessalone said in a statement at the time.

Boermeester went 18 of 25 on field goal attempts and 53 of 54 on PATs in 2016.
