Wake Forest DE James Looney transferring to Cal
James Looney is moving cross country from Wake Forest to Cal, where he'll become a Pac-12 defensive end while close to brother, 49ers OL Joe Looney.
Looney is transferring to the Bears and will file an appeal with the NCAA to play right away, according to a source.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Looney recorded three tackles and 0.5 sacks in four games as a true freshman in the ACC last year.
Cal is looking to bolster its line play in 2014 after injuries ravaged both units in Sonny Dykes' debut season.
