BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -Ralston Turner scored 15 points and Storm Warren had a double-double as LSU defeated Houston 73-57 on Tuesday night.
Turner, who handed out five assists, made six of his 10 field goal attempts. Warren matched his season-high with 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Andre Stringer had 13 points, with eight coming at the foul line in the final 2 minutes.
Adam Brown scored 15 points to lead the Cougars (4-3), getting eight of those points in the final 6 minutes. Houston made just 40 percent (23-of-58) of its field goal attempts and committed 19 turnovers.
There were three ties and four lead changes in the game's first 11:21. LSU then took control by scoring seven consecutive points over the next 1:01. Turner knocked down a 3-pointer before Warren added a pair of dunks.
The Cougars went nearly three minutes without a point before Zamal Nixon's field goal with 5:45 remaining before halftime.
The Tigers extended their lead to 10 points, 38-28, on Garrett Green's dunk just before halftime and maintained at least a 10-point lead until almost the midway point of the second half.
After a free throw by Kendrick Washington cut Houston's deficit to nine, 49-40, with 10:21 remaining, LSU quickly rebuilt its lead to 16 points at 56-40. Malcolm White and Turner made baskets before Aaron Dotson connected on a 3-pointer. The Cougars got no closer than 11 points the rest of the game.
