MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - LaRon Dendy and JT Sulton each had a double-double and Middle Tennessee defeated Akron 77-53 on Sunday.
Dendy had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Sulton tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds and Bruce Massey added 13 points for the Blue Raiders (8-1), who won their fourth straight.
Middle Tennessee held Akron (3-4) to 28.6 percent from the field (16 of 56), and 28.6 percent form 3-point range (4 of 14).
The Blue Raiders led 37-24 at halftime but Akron scored the first seven points of the second half, including a four-point play by Quincy Diggs. However, Middle Tennessee answered the spurt with a 15-4 run of its own to pull away.
Alex Abreu led the Zips with 14 points and Diggs finished with 10. Nikola Cvetinovic had 10 rebounds for Akron, which lost the battle of the boards 41-34. Akron has lost four of its last five.
