NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Brian Voelkel scored six of his nine points in the final minutes, including four straight at the free-throw line, as Vermont pulled away from Yale 67-59 Wednesday night.

Voelkel hit his only field goal - and Vermont's last - with 3:29 still to play, putting the Catamounts (7-8) into the lead for good at 58-56. Voelkel, Sandro Carissimo, Clancy Rugg and Luke Apfeld combined to make 9 of 10 free throws as Vermont edged away from the Bulldogs (5-8). Yale scored just three points in the final 4 minutes after fighting from 12 points down after halftime into ties at 53 and 56.

Candon Rusin led Vermont with 16 points, Carissimo added 14 and Rugg 10. Voelkel dished out 10 assists.

Yale, which has lost four in a row, was stranded in St. Louis until Tuesday by a snowstorm. Matt Townsend led Yale with 11 points.
