Angels manager Mike Scioscia has enjoyed strong performances from left-handed relievers Cesar Ramos and Jose Alvarez early in the season, with the pair combining to limit lefties to one hit in seven at-bats while striking out four, MLB.com reports.

"If you have versatility and you have balance, it does create depth," Scioscia said Monday. "We can use guys in different situations, different roles, and hopefully keep them fresh and get the results we need."

Scioscia brought Ramos into a two-run game win one out and one on in the seventh inning Monday, as three left-handed hitters were due to bat. Ramos retired the first two men he faced to turn the game over to setup man Joe Smith in the team's eventual 6-3 win.
