The Braves have announced the signing of veteran pitcher Edwin Jackson to a major league contract, which runs through the remainder of the season. He will work out of the bullpen.

The 31-year-old Jackson has served as a reliever this year for the first time since 2006. He was released by the Cubs on July 27 after compiling a 3.19 ERA and allowing five runs in his last two appearances.
