Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy (concussion) has been formally cleared to play and is available off the bench Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He could start Saturday's game against southpaw Jaime Garcia, according to the report.

Lucroy was medically cleared to play, but the Brewers were awaiting formal clearance before he could exit the concussion protocol. He now has that as well, and it seems likely the backstop will rejoin the lineup within the next few days. However, with just over a week left in the season, he's not expected to play behind the plate, so it's possible he will see limited action at first base, splitting with Adam Lind.
