Cardinals starting pitcher Lance Lynn (12-10) went six shutout innings Wednesday, allowing four hits while walking none and striking out four in a 10-2 drubbing of the Reds.
Lynn departed at 89 pitches, having been staked to a comfortable 6-0 lead by the end of the fifth inning. Wednesday's excellent start ends a string of poor performances from Lynn, who had pitched to a 9.26 ERA in his last three outings. As the Cardinals advance their lead in the NL Central, look for Lynn to see an innings decrease in anticipation of the playoffs.
