Cubs release Daniel Schlereth

The Cubs released pitcher Daniel Schlereth on Sunday.

Schlereth, who signed a minor-league contract in May, hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012. He gave up four runs (one earned) in three innings across three appearances with Triple-A Iowa while striking out three batters and issuing six walks.
