With Brandon Cumpton out for the season, the pitchers on the Pirates' depth chart have moved a step up in their pursuit of a major-league roster spot, but manager Clint Hurdle indicated Thursday that the team won't rush prospect Nick Kingham to the majors, MLB.com reports.

"Will it change his seeding?" Hurdle said.. "Yeah, because it changes everybody's as they all move up a notch. But we're in no hurry with Nick. He went from Double-A to spend some time in Triple-A [in 2014] and he was able to build, and I believe some of that has carried over into here. We want to make sure he continues to grow and gets to a very competitive spot when time comes for him to arrive."

Kingham tossed two perfect innings Thursday and has now racked up four scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks in two spring outs.
