Mariners first baseman Mark Trumbo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
The 29-year-old Trumbo has gone just 1 for 12 in his career against right-hander Jeremy Guthrie, Tuesday's starter for Kansas City. Meanwhile, Jesus Montero has gone 3 for 4 with a homer against Guthrie, so while they're both small samples, it makes sense manager Lloyd McClendon has opted to go with Montero at first base.
