Mariners to call up Brandon Bantz

The Mariners will call up catcher Brandon Bantz, ESPN Seattle reports. Bantz is in the Seattle clubhouse in the wake of an injury to backup Jesus Sucre, but the moves to open up spots for Bantz on the 25- and 40-man rosters have yet to be announced.

Bantz, 26, will be making his major-league debut. He owns a .228/.313/.355 line in 256 minor-league games over five seasons.
