The Mariners are set to sign outfielder Carlos Quentin to a minor-league deal, CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman reports. The team later confirmed the report.

Quentin was dealt to the Braves just prior to Opening Day then designated for assignment, hitting the open market after getting released last week. If Quentin is not called up by May 12, he has an opt out clause to make him a free agent, according to Heyman.

He hit just .177/.284/.315 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 130 at-bats last season.
