The Nationals have recalled pitcher Sammy Solis and outfielder Michael Taylor while optioning pitcher A.J. Cole back to Triple-A, the team announced.

In addition, Washington placed outfielder Reed Johnson on the 15-day DL with a calf strain. Cole started Tuesday's game against the Braves and was rocked for nine runs in two innings of work. Taylor was sent to Triple-A roughly two weeks ago and was hitting .271 to start the year. Solis has appeared in three games this season in the minors with an 0-0 record and a 2.25 ERA.
