The Nationals have released first baseman and outfielder Micah Owings from Triple-A Syracuse, CSN Washington reports. Owings hit .265/.305/.480 at Syracuse but struck out 71 times in 200 at-bats (35.5 percent), a rate that will likely prevent him from succeeding at the major-league level despite his apparent power (eight home runs, 24 extra-base hits in 57 games).
