Cardinals pitcher Randy Choate needed just one pitch to pick up a win Saturday, recording the final out of the seventh inning of his team's 4-1 victory over the Nationals.
Choate (1-2) was called upon with the bases loaded and two outs after back-to-back walks by starter Shelby Miller, and he immediately induced a groundball to end the inning. The Cardinals were able to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh and get Choate his first win. He owns a 6.62 ERA and 15:7 K:BB ratio in 17 2/3 innings.
