Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer (12-12) gave up two runs on four hits in six innings against the Yankees on Wednesday, but took the loss. He struck out seven and walked four.

Archer was outdueled by Yankees rookie Luis Severino, who allowed just a single run in his 5 2/3 innings. He wasn't quite as sharp as the quality start would suggest, though, with the four walks plus a wild pitch.

Archer looked like a stud in the first half (2.74 ERA, 1.02 WHIP), but has been markedly less dominant in the second half, with a 3.29 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. It's still quality work, but not top-line-starter material, and an uptick in his walk date has been the biggest culprit.
