The White Sox reinstated catcher Rob Brantly from the 15-day disabled list on Monday and assigned him to Double-A Birmingham, the team announced.

Brantly was on a rehab assignment with Birmingham before the move, so he'll stay put and continue to build up at-bats for a potential major-league contribution later in the season. He suffered a thumb fracture during spring training, causing his late start to the season.
