With White Sox manager Robin Ventura looking to stay away from closer David Robertson on Thursday, he turned to Zach Duke and Jake Petricka to close out a 3-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader against the Orioles.

Ventura kept Duke in the game in the ninth inning after he relieved Chris Sale with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Duke struck out Manny Machado in the eighth to preserve a 2-0 lead. He took the mound in the ninth with a 3-0 lead.

He struck out the first two batters in the ninth before running into trouble. Delmon Young had a two-out single, and then Chris Davis parked a two-run homer into the right-field seats to cut the deficit to one.

Ventura went to Petricka for the final out of the game. He struck out Travis Snider for his first save of the season and 15th career save.
