Sixers coach Brett Brown reiterated Thursday that point guard Kendall Marshall (knee) wouldn't be ready to play by the start of the regular season, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

"I think it would be fair to say that we are not going to see Kendall for the month of October and beyond," Brown said. "I hope not much further beyond."

Marshall has been able to participate in some non-contact drills during training camp, but he's still in the progress of rebuilding strength in his right knee after suffering an ACL tear last January. The Sixers should have a better idea on a timetable for Marshall once he draws closer to taking part in full-contact practices, but it doesn't sound like that will happen in the near future. With fellow ACL tear returnee Tony Wroten also sidelined for the start of the regular season, Isaiah Canaan figures to log heavy minutes as the team's starting point guard.
