Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Expected to require 16 weeks or more of recovery time

Coach Dave Joerger confirmed Tuesday that Gasol (foot) will require at least 16 weeks of recovery before resuming basketball activities, Peter Fleischer of FOX 13 Memphis (WHBQ-TV) reports.

This timeline would seem to jibe with the four-to-six month recovery period that Spanish news outlet Marca outlined for Gasol two weeks earlier when he first suffered the foot fracture. Gasol underwent a successful procedure over the past weekend and isn't expected to endure career-threatening complications as a result of the surgery, but given that he's 7-foot-1 and 31 years old, there will remain some valid concerns of the center's ability to stay healthy when he returns in 2016-17.
