Nicholson generated 19 points (7-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight rebounds, two steals and one assist across 26 minutes in Tuesday's 96-91 preseason win over the Cavaliers.
It was uncertain heading into training camp whether or not Nicholson would hold see regular minutes once the season began, but with Ian Mahinmi (knee) out for four-to-six weeks, the 26-year-old looks to have solidified a spot in coach Scott Brooks' rotation. Even if Mahinmi was fully healthy, Nicholson may have forced the issue anyway, as he's been spectacular over the last three preseason contests. He's averaged 16.3 points (on 60% shooting from the field), 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 treys and 1.0 steal across 29.3 minutes per game during that span.
