Clausen was claimed off waivers by the Ravens on Tuesday. Released by the Bears just a day earlier, Clausen quickly found a favorable landing spot, with the Ravens needing a backup to Matt Schaub. Given Schaub's propensity for meltdowns, it won't be at all surprising if Clausen gets playing time before the end of the season. There's still no upside to speak of, as Clausen has been consistently bad during his NFL career, and the Baltimore offense has been decimated by injuries.
Clausen was released by the Bears on Monday, NFL Network's James Palmer reports. Hopelessly overwhelmed in his two appearances this season, Clausen has yet to show any real signs of being a competent NFL quarterback. David Fales, a 2014 sixth-round draft pick, was promoted from the practice squad to replace Clausen as the backup signal-caller.
Clausen (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Clausen was a late addition to the Bears' injury report after the back issue only limited him during Thursday's practice this week, but it appears he's feeling strong enough to serve in a backup capacity behind Jay Cutler. The Bears' decision to keep third-string quarterback David Fales inactive seems to indicate the team is comfortable with where Clausen is at on the health front.
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler isn't giving any hints about his status for Week 4 against the Raiders. "If I can get back, I'll get back," he said. With limited practices under his belt to kick off the week, Cutler has opened the door for a return Sunday following a hamstring strain suffered in Week 2. His recovery is a "day-to-day" prospect, but Friday's injury report will ultimately give an indication whether game action is possible. If not, backup Jimmy Clausen will again direct the Bears' offense.
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday. Cutler's practice reps were contained to individual drills, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com. While the appearance was a surprise, Cutler is still expected to sit out another week as he recovers from a strained hamstring. As long as he's sidelined, Jimmy Clausen will assume QB duties for the Bears.
