The Cowboys have sliced their roster down to 53 with a slew of moves on Saturday. The have released the following offensive players: wide receivers Jamar Newsome, LaRon Byrd and Dezmon Briscoe, guards Stephen Goodin and Uche Nwaneri, running backs Ryan Williams, Phillip Tanner and D.J. Adams, tackle Josh Aladenoye, center Ronald Patrick and tight end Asa Watson. Among the defenders they let go are linemen Kenneth Boatright, Dartwan Bush and Caesar Rayford, cornerback Terrance Mitchell, safety Ryan Smithl and linebackers Dontravis Sapp, Will Smith and Keith Smith. The Cowboys also waived/injured linebacker Orie Lemon and defensive tackle Zach Minter while placing safety Jakar Hamilton and cornerback Orlando Scandrick on the reserve/suspended list.
The agent for receiver Dezmon Briscoe tweeted that his client signed with the Cowboys on Monday. Briscoe is expected to serve as quality depth behind the Cowboys' other tall, physical receivers in training camp.
Redskins wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe was forced out of Thursday's preseason finale against the Buccaneers with a right shoulder sprain. Briscoe caught two passes for 75 yards before leaving the game in the first quarter. His return is questionable.
A day after getting waived by the Bucs for failing a physical, the Redskins claimed receiver Dezmon Briscoe off waivers. He'll reunite with Raheem Morris who now serves as the Redskins secondary coach. Briscoe led the Bucs in receiving scores with six on 35 catches for 387 yards (11.1 avg.) last year.
