Ventrone (hamstring) and the Steelers have reached an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Ventrone was initially placed on the Steelers' waived/injured list, but the team will ultimately cut ties with the veteran defensive back. Ventrone recorded two tackles on special teams for the Patriots in 2015.
The Steelers placed Ventrone (hamstring) on the waived/injured list Sunday, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Ventrone was previously listed as Pittsburgh's backup free safety. If he clears waivers, he will most likely land on the team's injured reserve list.
Ventrone left Friday's preseason game with a right hamstring injury, Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. It is unclear how serious Ventrone's hamstring injury is. There will likely be more updates on the safety's status in the near future. He is currently listed on the Steelers depth chart as the backup free safety.
Ventrone finished the regular season with three tackles (two solo). Just as he had in 2014, Ventrone's only playing time was on special teams in 2015. He has no fantasy value at this time.
Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen (thumb) and safety Ross Ventrone (hamstring) are active for Monday's game at Tennessee after being listed as probable.
