Jacobs signed with the Ravens on Tuesday. A 2013 UDFA, Jacobs spent time with the Ravens last season, but only after the team's wideout group was decimated by injuries. With Baltimore boasting superior competition this year, Jacobs is highly unlikely to win a roster spot. For the time being, he'll take the place of RB Trent Richardson (knee), who was released in the corresponding transaction.
The Ravens have promoted Jacobs from their practice squad to the team's 53-man roster. In corresponding moves, the Ravens waived fellow wideout Joe Morgan, while adding Chris Matthews to their practice squad. For now, Jacobs slots in as a depth wideout/return option for the team, which is now quarterbacked by Matt Schaub in the wake of Joe Flacco's season-ending injury.
The 49ers waived 10 players on Monday. They were K Corey Acosta, LB Steve Beauharnais, CB Mylan Hicks, T Sean Hooey, WR Mario Hull, WR Chuck Jacobs, WR Nigel King, LB Shawn Lemon, FB Trey Millard and DL Lawrence Okoye. Additionally, the 49ers placed G/C Daniel Kilgore on the PUP list to start the season and WR DeAndre Smelter on the NFI list. The team also placed WR Dres Anderson and LB Desmond Bishop on injured reserve.
The 49ers waived injured wide receiver Chuck Jacobs Saturday, the team announced. Jacobs spent the 2013 season on the team's practice squad as an undrafted free agent. He suffered a torn ACL during the team's first preseason game Thursday.
The 49ers signed guard Al Netter, offensive tackle Carter Bykowski, receiver Chuck Jacobs, defensive tackle Mike Purcell and cornerback Dax Swanson to reserve/futures contracts, enabling them to participate in the offseason program.
