Pinkins was waived by the Seahawks on Saturday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR reports. The three-year vet struggled to make enough noise during his tenure in Seattle. Pinkins, 25, tallied just two tackles last season.
On the first day of Seahawks' minicamp, second-year cornerback Eric Pinkins lined up at linebacker, even rushing the passer on occasion. "Yeah, we are trying him at outside 'backer to use his speed and see if he can't be a really special addition to that spot," coach Pete Carroll said, per the Seattle Times. "You know, he's real fast. He's close to 230 pounds, almost 240 here a couple weeks back and as he trimmed up for camp, we just had the idea. We want to take a look and see what it looks like. So that's what we're going to … we're going to throw him in here these first couple of weeks and into the OTAs season and see how far that goes."
The Seahawks announced several roster moves on Tuesday, per the team's official website. The team will keep defensive back Eric Pinkins (foot) on the reserve/non-football injury list for the remainder of the season. Seattle waived tight end Brett Brackett and wide receiver Chris Matthews from the practice squad and signed tight end Tony Moeaki and wide receiver Bryan Walters to the 53-man roster. The team also added safety Dion Bailey and wide receiver Jalen Saunders to the practice squad.
Seahawks defensive back Eric Pinkins returned from the Reserved/Non-Football Injury list Wednesday, the team announced. Pinkins suffered a Lisfranc injury this summer and was placed on the reserved/NFI list in late August.
The Seahawks made several roster moves to get down to Tuesday's 75-player limit. They waived defensive tackle Michael Brooks, receiver David Gilreath and linebacker Horace Miller with injury designations. Seattle also put linebacker Heath Farwell, cornerback A.J. Jefferson and guard C.J. Davis on injured reserve. Cornerback Eric Pinkins was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.
