Dolphins' Hickey doesn't rule out bringing back Knowshon Moreno

Running back Knowshon Moreno was unable to provide much of anything for the Dolphins a year ago thanks to an ACL tear in Week 6. While the Dolphins haven't been expected to re-sign Moreno, it's not out of the question. According to the Miami Herald, general manager Dennis Hickey said the Dolphins are still open to the possibility of bringing Moreno back to the team. Moreno signed a one-year, $3 million deal in 2014. He's now an unrestricted free agent. Moreno hasn't been working out at the Dolphins' team facility though Hickey said the organization has been keeping tabs on his rehab and recovery. If Moreno is still available on the free-agent market in the early summer, it's possible the Dolphins to bring him in if they're unable to select a quality runner in the draft.

What to do if Knowshon Moreno returns

With Knowshon Moreno possibly on the verge of a return to action for the Dolphins, how should Fantasy owners approach Week 6's game against the Packers? Lamar Miller has been a more-than-capable fill in for Moreno, totaling just 27 carries between two games in Moreno's absence. He rushed for 172 yards in those two games and finished with 30 Fantasy points, showing he can be productive even without a true No. 1's role. The return of Moreno might not be a death sentence for his Fantasy value, though it does put a ceiling on his potential upside even with a good matchup on the way. What Moreno's role will be remains to be seen, assuming he is even able to play Sunday. The Packers have struggled to slow running backs this season, but if Moreno plays on a snap count, he should make for a risky start. Smart money is on the Dolphins splitting the workload pretty evenly with Moreno coming back from an injury; remember, Miller got 11 carries even in Moreno's big breakout in Week 1. The Packers are allowing 21.6 Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this season, so Miller should be worth starting either way, with the upside of a solid No. 2 if Moreno sits out. If Moreno plays, consider both flex or No. 3 backs.
