Joe McKnight plagued by Achilles injury

Chiefs running back Joe McKnight has been diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles. He sustained the injury at Thursday practice. McKnight has been more a threat as a pass-catcher than as a rusher. He caught six passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3 at Miami.

Joe McKnight not worth your waiver-wire love

Alright, Chiefs backup running back Joe McKnight scored twice in Week 3, and that was a nice scene for him. Unfortunately, nobody owned him in Fantasy then, as he really came out of nowhere following Jamaal Charles' injury. Is McKnight someone Fantasy owners should be targeting moving forward following his breakout? McKnight was a non-factor in the running game, but Alex Smith leaned on him heavily as a receiver out of the backfield. He led the team with six receptions on seven targets for 64 yards against the Dolphins, and made his biggest impact with a pair of receiving touchdowns in the red zone. McKnight did his work while seeing the field in just 21 percent of the Chiefs' offensive plays -- he touched the ball on 46.7 percent of his snaps. That is an unsustainable number for anyone, let alone a little-used return specialist. With Charles' return looming and Knile Davis entrenched as the change-of-pace back, there is little reason to add McKnight, despite last week's success.

Joe McKnight scores a pair of receiving touchdowns vs. Miami

Chiefs running back Joe McKnight made his presence felt in the passing game, scoring a pair of touchdowns in a Week 3 win over the Dolphins in Miami. He followed that up with an 11-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. He capped off his big afternoon with a four-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter. McKnight caught six of the seven passes thrown his way for a team-high 64 yards and two touchdowns. He had one carry for three yards in a 34-15 victory. The Chiefs will host the Patriots in Week 4.

    Chiefs make roster moves

The Chiefs will begin full-squad training camp on Thursday without running back Joe McKnight and defensive back David Van Dyke, reports ESPN. McKnight (knee) and Van Dyke (hamstring) will begin on the physically unable to participate list. McKnight is a candidate to make the regular-season roster. With a strong showing both out of the backfield and as a kick returner, McKnight could win a spot as a backup to Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis.

Two Chiefs working their way back to form

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said running back Joe McKnight had arthroscopic surgery on his knee after OTAs but before training camp. Despite that, he still has a chance to practice this week. "He's made great progress and wants to be out there and he's pretty close," Reid said. Reid also mentioned that cornerback David Van Dyke has a hamstring issue that the team is planning to ease him back from. Reid called him "a bit of a question mark."

Joe McKnight on his way to Green Bay

Veteran running back Joe McKnight was not out of work long. Four days after being cut by the Jets, he tweeted that he is headed to the Packers on Saturday, reports NBC Sports. McKnight performed well in limited duty in three years with the Jets. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry in 112 attempts. The season-ending knee injury to DuJuan Harris will allow him to fill a spot in the backfield while playing a role as a kick returner.
