Bears' Jacquizz Rodgers: Placed on IR

Rodgers has been placed on the Bears' injured reserve list after suffering a fractured arm in Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Rodgers' broken right arm will end his season after just five games and likely result in rookie Jeremy Langford seeing even more snaps behind starter Matt Forte at running back. While Ka'Deem is in the mix as well, Chicago also signed free agent Antone Smith on Monday to replace Rodgers going forward.

Bears RB Jacquizz Rodgers injures elbow Sunday

Bears wide receiver Jacquizz Rodgers' right arm was "heavily" wrapped and in a sling after Sunday's contest at Kansas City, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Rodgers received his typical allotment of touches in Week 5 -- three carries for three yards -- but the injury places a cloud over his availability going forward. If he's at all hindered next Sunday in Detroit, Jeremy Langford would be in line for a bit more work behind Matt Forte.

Bears RB Jacquizz Rodgers doesn't get much work Week 4

Running back Jacquizz Rodgers gained 3 yards and two carries and failed to reel in his only target in the Bears' Week 4 win over the Raiders. For the second consecutive week, Rodgers saw more offensive snaps (nine) than fellow backup Jeremy Langford (three). However, the minimal usage of both players suggests Matt Forte is still on tap for a heavy workload each week. Even if Forte goes down with an injury, Rodgers' small stature makes him better suited for change-of-pace duty than an every-down role.

Bears RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushes for 11 yards Week 3

Bears running back Jacquizz Rodgers carried the ball four times and gained 11 yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Seahawks. He also caught one pass for 10 yards. Remarkably, Rodgers' receiving total was only 11 yards behind tight end Zach Miller for the team lead, on a day in which the Bears punted on all 10 of their possessions. It's worth noting that Rodgers seemed to move back ahead of Jeremy Langford on the depth chart after seeing fewer snaps a weak earlier, but it's difficult to see either backup running back carve out a notable role behind starter Matt Forte.

Bears RB Jacquizz Rodgers receives two carries in Week 2

Bears running back Jacquizz Rodgers had two running attempts and gained eight yards in Sunday's 48-23 loss to the Cardinals. He wasn't targeted in the passing game. After ranking second in running-back snaps for the Bears in the season opener, Rodgers seemed to be bypassed in favor of rookie Jeremy Langford on Sunday. Langford finished the afternoon with six carries to Rodgers' two, and was on the field for the entirety of the Bears' 11-play touchdown drive in the second quarter while starter Matt Forte rested. Forte remains in line to receive the bulk of the snaps at the position, but look for Langford to take on an increased role in the weeks to come, especially if the 0-2 Bears fall out of playoff contention early. Such a development would likely result in Rodgers seeing his snap count plunge even further from here.

Falcons RBs Rodgers, Freeman carry the load in Week 17

Falcons RB Steven Jackson (quad) not practicing Wednesday

Falcons running back Steven Jackson, who left the Week 16 win at New Orleans with a quad injury, was unable to practice Wednesday, reports ESPN.com. Atlanta is preparing to host Carolina on Sunday with the NFC South title at stake. If Jackson can't play, Jacquizz Rodgers and rookie Devonta Freeman would share the load. Rodgers received 12 touches and Freeman got eight against the Saints. The Falcons are favored by 4 points at Vegas sportsbooks.

You don't want Falcons RB, whoever it is

Though Steven Jackson's status for Week 17 against Carolina isn't known just yet, the fact his quadriceps injury almost immediately ruled him out for the second half of Week 16 at New Orleans is hardly reason for optimism. So then, Fantasy owners should be preparing for the possibility he misses the season's final week. That is, if any who are still playing now are actually relying on him, which is unlikely. He's scored a touchdown in only one of his last four games and has run for more than 60 yards only twice all season. At this point, it's not even all that clear that the Falcons would miss him. His replacements, Jacquizz Rodgers and Devonta Freeman, were both more productive than him against the Saints, especially Freeman, who broke off a 31-yard touchdown run in the the third quarter and also had 48 receiving yards. Of course, you'd like Freeman to be the first choice to replace Jackson, but considering Rodgers got more touches, that's far from certain. When Rodgers has gotten an increased workload in the past, he's done little with it, and he's averaging just 3.5 yards per carry again this year. So if Jackson plays in Week 17, you probably wouldn't want to use him in Fantasy, and if he doesn't, an anticipated timeshare likely ruins whomever the Falcons choose to replace him. If you play in such a deep league that the replacement would matter regardless, Freeman is probably the best choice since he's more explosive, but it's not an exciting prospect.

Devonta Freeman, Jacquizz Rodgers fill in for Steven Jackson

With Steven Jackson sidelined with a quad injury, Falcons running back Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers each chipped on the ground during Sunday's 30-14 victory over the Saints in Week 16. Freeman stepped up with a 31-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. He registered 84 yards of total offense, with 36 yards and a score on six carries and three receptions for 48 yards. Rodgers took 11 handoffs for 29 yards and came down with one grab for 3 yards. Atlanta will host Carolina in Week 16.
