Texans' Nate Washington: One catch in playoff loss

Washington caught one of six targets for three yards in Saturday's playoff loss to the Chiefs. Washington, like every ball catcher, was hampered by the poor play of quarterback Brian Hoyer in the 30-0 loss to Kansas City. He finished the regular season second in receptions (47), targets (94) and yards (658), though he was rarely a difference maker. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in March and could re-sign with Houston, but with several holes to fill, the Texans won't be focused on the wideout position.

    Texans' Nate Washington: Active Saturday

Washington (hip) is listed as active Saturday against the Chiefs. After injuring his hip in the season finale, Washington logged just two limited practices this week, but the ailment won't stop him from taking part in the do-or-die matchup. He didn't exactly end the season in the high note, failing to surpass 50 yards in each of the last eight games, which doesn't bode well against Kansas City's ninth-ranked pass defense.

Texans' Nate Washington: Probable for Sunday

Washington (hip) is considered probable for Saturday's playoff game versus the Chiefs, the Houston Chronicle reports. Washington tweaked his hip during Sunday's regular season finale against the Jaguars, but he's still expected to suit up for this weekend's postseason tilt, providing a veteran target opposite star wideout DeAndre Hopkins.

Texans' Nate Washington: Returns to a limited practice Thursday

Washington (hip) returned to a limited practice Thursday. Washington sat out practice Wednesday, but his return to work Thursday -- albeit in a limited capacity -- bodes well for the wideout's chances of suiting up for Saturday's playoff opener against the Chiefs.

Texans' Nate Washington: Misses practice Wednesday

Washington (hip) did not practice Wednesday. The Texans' injury report in advance of Saturday's game against the the Chiefs is rather lengthy, but as one of just two Houston players who was listed as a non-participant at practice Wednesday, Washington's status for the team's playoff opener is worth monitoring.

Texans' Nate Washington: Day-to-day with hip issue

Coach Bill O'Brien relayed Monday that Washington is "day-to-day" with a hip issue that he sustained in Sunday's win over the Jaguars. More on that front should be known once the Texans return to practice on Wednesday, but as the team's playoff contest against the Chiefs on Saturday approaches, the status of both Washington and fellow wideout Cecil Shorts (hamstring) merit tracking.

Texans' Nate Washington: Minimal impact in Week 17

Washington caught one of three targets for six yards in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Jaguars. Washington's best moments have occurred in games where Cecil Shorts has been sidelined -- all four of his touchdowns have happened in games Shorts has missed -- so it's a bit surprising how little Washington was targeted Sunday when Shorts (groin) was not available. Rookie Jaelen Strong (six catches, 56 yards) finished second behind DeAndre Hopkins in the receiving game. Still, the veteran Washington will bring a needed element when the playoffs open next week at home against the Chiefs.

Texans' Nate Washington: Burns former team with touchdown

Washington corralled 3-of-5 targets for 42 yards and a touchdown Sunday in Tennessee. The former Titan burned his former team with a 13-yard score in the third quarter, showing a decent rapport with new starting quarterback Brandon Weeden in a 34-6 blowout victory. While he clearly sits behind DeAndre Hopkins in the Texans' pecking order at wide receiver, Washington should get some looks against a porous Jaguars secondary as the Texans look to clinch a playoff berth next week.

Texans' Nate Washington: Three catches in Week 15 win

Washington caught three of six targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 16-10 win over Indianapolis. Washington became the unquestioned number two option when Cecil Shorts left the game with a groin injury. While it didn't translate into a big game Sunday, Washington's been at his most productive when Shorts has been out of the lineup, something that could be the case in Week 16 against the Titans.

Texans' Nate Washington: One catch in Week 14

Washington had one catch on four targets for 49 yards in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. Houston quarterback Brian Hoyer targeted a few deep balls for Washington, who had a couple in his hands before getting knocked out of his grasp by cornerback Malclom Butler.
