Vrbata recorded a hat trick in Monday's win over the Sabres.
Vrbata tallied his first two in the opening frame then added the third goal late with the game already in hand. The 34-year-old has been inconsistent for much of the season and looked like he might get going with five points in a four game stretch, but he followed that up with a four-game pointless streak that he brought into Monday's contest. This kind of performance could help jump start his season, but last season's 63-point campaign appears to be out of reach.
