Djoos signed a two-year, two-way contract worth $1.3 million with Washington on Thursday.

Djoos has yet to make his NHL debut; however, it seems likely that he'll get that opportunity during the 2017-18 campaign after racking up 58 points in 66 outings with AHL Hershey this past year. The offensive-minded defenseman was selected in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Draft, but he appears to have exceeded expectations thus far. The Caps just lost Nate Schmidt in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, which could create an opening for Djoos to make an impact sooner rather than later.
