Miro Karjalainen: Headed back to Finland

Karjalainen signed a one-year deal with HBK of the Finnish Liiga on Friday.

Karjalainen was selected by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Draft and spent a portion of last season with ECHL Idaho. The defenseman will head back to his native Finland where he previously played for HIFK Helsinki. At this point, the 20-year-old figures to be a long-shot to secure a regular role on an NHL team considering he has yet to even feature in the AHL.
