Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Won't play in weekend slate

Malkin (knee), who continues to skate on his own prior to practice, has been ruled out for both Saturday and Sunday.

"We've not yet made the decision for him to join the team in practice and that's obviously the next step for him," Pens coach Mike Sullivan said. "He's out for the weekend." Sullivan labeled Malkin's injury as "day-to-day" earlier in the week, but it appears now that he'll miss close to another week.
