The Penguins demoted Hornqvist to a third line with Nick Bonino and Beau Bennett on Monday.
Hornqvist, who hasn't scored an even-strength point in his last seven games while skating on the top line with Sidney Crosby, has seen his scoring rate drop to 0.35 points per game from 0.80 points a year ago. At some point he'll get another crack at top-six time but for now he'll serve as Bonino's right winger.
