Red Wings' Niklas Kronwall: Headed to LTIR

Kronwall (knee) will be placed on long-term injured reserve, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

Kronwall's placement on LTIR will require him miss at least 10 games and 24 days. As a result, the earliest the veteran defenseman will be able to rejoin the lineup comes Feb. 13 against Boston. In his absence, Alexei Marchenko will likely continue to draw into the lineup in his place.
