Jordan Spieth played the Wednesday pro-am at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational with his buddy Bill Murray. After their friendly round, the two discussed each other's games. Spieth said Murray is a showman (big surprise there) and Murray said he couldn't have been more impressed with the No. 2 player on the planet.

"We had a great time," said Spieth. "It was a lot of fun. It was really nice of Bill to come here. Us Texans are big fans, and I think he heard that today from the crowd. He was a shot-maker. He was carving the ball right to left and left to right off the tee. He's a performer. He knows what he's doing."

A legend and Bill Murray. @PGATour

Yes, yes he does.

Murray was so impressed, he even said he was going to wager a large sum of money on the 13-2 favorite Spieth to win the tournament.

"He plays really well without my help," said Murray of Spieth. "I'm always trying to make a buck, but I didn't know what I could tell him anyway. I'm not a gambling man, but I mortgaged my house for the weekend. I'm going to make some money and ride this pony all the way to the finish line.

"He has trophies that are as big as you and me."

Classic Murray. And how great will this be in retrospect if Spieth, who has finished in the top 15 in all three of his appearances at this tournament, actually wins the thing.
