Jordan Spieth was making a bid to become the youngest golfer in PGA Tour history to win twice and Patrick Reed had to go and spoil it.
Actually, Reed is no gray-hair himself. The 23-year-old from Augusta State turned pro in 2011 and nearly won earlier this season at the St. Jude Classic.
And it was actually Spieth who nearly spoiled Reed's party by shooting a final-round 65 that included a 31 on the back nine on Sunday.
Reed shot a decent 35 on the back nine but bogeyed No. 16 to fall into a tie with Spieth who finished before him.
On the first playoff hole Spieth hit a match-saving 25-foot putt that was absolutely cold blooded. Here's what Spieth said about the putt after his round:

It was then Reed who found trouble on the second playoff hole but recovered with an insane shot out of the rough to less than 10 feet for the birdie and win.
Both golfers will participate in the FedEx Cup Playoffs which starts next week at the Barclays Championship but it's Spieth that finished No. 8 in the points race after, get this, starting the year without any status on Tour.
Did I mention he turned 20 less than a month ago?
So while history wasn't made on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship I think we saw that with two guys whose combined ages equal Phil Mickelson's age, the next generation of golf is is pretty good hands.
