Last Monday's 19-inning marathon game has sent a third Oakland Athletics player to the DL. Oakland has placed outfielder Chris Young on the 15-day disabled list with a quad injury, retroactive to April 30. Outfielder Michael Taylor has been recalled.

Young, 29, joins outfielder Coco Crisp (hamstring) and left-hander Brett Anderson (ankle), who suffered injuries in the 19-inning win over the Angels. Yoenis Cespedes was activated off the DL last week and will step into center field on a full-time basis with Crisp and Young sidelined.

Acquired from the Diamondbacks this past offseason, Young is hitting .172/.277/.391 with four homers and five stolen bases in 23 games this year. He's played all three outfield spots after playing center exclusively during his seven years in Arizona.

Taylor, 27, was up earlier this year and failed to reach base in six plate appearances. He's appeared in 20 total big league games over the last three seasons and has hit .329/.380/.616 with five homers in 18 games for Triple-A Sacramento so far in 2013.
