Blue Jays manager John Farrell said catcher J.P. Arencibia could return to the team in mid-September, according to MLB.com's Gregor Chisolm.

Arencibia has been on the disabled list since July 25 after a foul tip fractured his throwing hand in a game against the A's.

The Blue Jays catcher has hit .242/.279/.466 with 16 home runs in 299 plate appearances this season.

Earlier this month, the Blue Jays signed Yorvit Torrealba to a minor-league contract, promoting him to Toronto on Aug. 21. Torrealba has split time at catcher with Jeff Mathis in place of Arencibia.
