The Blue Jays are ready to open up the checkbook this offseason, according to the Toronto Sun’s Mike Rutsey.

At a season-ending meeting with the media, general manager Alex Anthopoulos confirmed that the team would increase payroll during the winter in order to bring in more free agents. Anthopoulos even admitted that he would be willing to overpay for players if they are a “perfect fit.”

Anthopoulos also said improving the rotation will be the main focus during the offseason. With Kyle Drabek and Drew Hutchinson not expected to be ready for the start of season, Anthopoulos will look for immediate contributors. Anthopoulos said that he’ll look to make additions in other areas, but will try to make “major additions” to the starting rotation.
