The Rangers lost to the Blue Jays on Friday night (TOR 12, TEX 2), but they did, for a very short time early in the game, hold a lead, thanks to Prince Fielder's first-inning solo home run. It was the 300th home run of Fielder's career.

Here's the video:

Prince is the 137th member of the 300-home run club. His father Cecil Fielder also hit 300-plus homers in his big league career. Cecil hit 319 career dingers, in fact.

The Fielders are only the second father-son combo in MLB history with 300-plus home runs each, joining (who else?) Bobby and Barry Bonds. Bobby Bonds hit 332 homers while Barry is baseball's all-time homer king with 762.

Here's the a quick leaderboard of most combined father-son home runs in history:

  1. Bobby and Barry Bonds - 1,094
  2. Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. - 782
  3. Cecil and Prince Fielder - 619 (and counting)
  4. Felipe and Moises Alou - 538

Fielder just turned 31 last month (surprising, no? Seems like he's been around forever) and is signed through the 2020 season. Can he hit 164 homers in the next five-and-a-half years to move the Fielders into sole possession of second place on the list? Seems tough but not impossible.

Also, this seems like the perfect excuse to break out the old Prince and Cecil Fielder McDonald's commercial from way back in the day:

Videos like that are why the internet was invented.
