Cody Ross agrees to terms with Diamondbacks

Outfielder Cody Ross has agreed to terms with the Diamondbacks on a three-year contract.

The Diamondbacks and outfielder Cody Ross have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with an option for 2016. CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman has confirmed the original report of Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

Ross, 31, is coming off a season in which he batted .267/.326/.481 with 22 homers and 34 doubles for the Red Sox. Ross is a career .262/.324/.460 hitter in parts of nine major league seasons. He's also capable of playing all three outfield positions, although he's best suited to a corner.

The move gives the Diamondbacks a fairly crowded outfield, what with Justin Upton, Jason Kubel, Adam Eaton, Gerardo Parra and Eric Hinske already slated to be on the active roster.

Presumably, you might once again crank up your Upton trade rumors. Although, as Heyman tweets, it might be Kubel who's more likely to be moved as a result of the Ross signing.
