The Cubs have designated pitcher Casey Coleman for assignment in order to make room for free-agent Scott Feldman, the club announced Wednesday.

Coleman, 24, recorded a 7.40 ERA in 24.1 innings in 2012, inflating his career ERA to 5.76 (70 ERA+) in 165.2 innings. He struck out just 16 batters in 2012 next to 12 walks, bringing his career K/BB to 1.42.
