After playing the first 53 games of the season, Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro received his first day off this season against the Nationals on Saturday. As a result, Addison Russell will get his first career start at shortstop, per the team's official website.

Castro is hitting .220 (9 for 41) with a home run and an RBI over his last 11 games played. With Russell at shortstop, manager Joe Maddon moved Jonathan Herrera to second base.
