Cubs move Russell to SS with Castro receiving first breather of season

After playing the first 53 games of the season, Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro received his first day off this season against the Nationals on Saturday. As a result, Addison Russell will get his first career start at shortstop, per the team's official website.

Castro is hitting .220 (9 for 41) with a home run and an RBI over his last 11 games played. With Russell at shortstop, manager Joe Maddon moved Jonathan Herrera to second base. He will bat seventh, while Russell will bat last. Russell is hitting just .158 (3 for 19) with an RBI over his last six games.
