Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said in a press conference Saturday that starting pitcher Chad Billingsley may be "out for a while."
Colletti, speaking to the media about the Saturday trade that brought Adrian Gonzalez and others to the Dodgers, mentioned Billingsley's potential absence as one of the positives to acquiring Josh Beckett.
Billinsgley left his Friday start in the fourth inning with tenderness in his elbow. He is 10-9 with a 3.55 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 25 starts this season.
If Billingsley is unable to return this year, the Dodgers would likely move forward with a rotation of Beckett, Clayton Kershaw, Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang and Joe Blanton. Ted Lilly, who could return to the team in September, would pitch from the bullpen.
